• Do you need ramps or lifts? 
• Are your items large or smaller?
• Do you send one or two people on deliveries or more?
• Is the ease of a truck and trailer or a box truck better?
• Do you see yourself having a long term solution (5+ years) or more temporary (1-5 years)?
• Where do you have to store this vehicle?

These questions will help you decide what kind of transportation you need for your rental business.

Buying Trucks and Trailers

• Great long term solution if you have the funds 
• Great if you have a place to store it easily 
• Great if you seldom need to take short trips around town to run errands or deliver small items
• Great for ground level more often 
• Great for ramps

Buying Box Trucks

• Great long term solution if you have the funds 
• Great if you have a place to store it easily 
• Great for loading docks 
• Great for ramps or lifts
• Make sure to look at how old it is and history of maintenance

Renting vs. Leasing

Renting can be a great temporary solution. However, it can get very expensive if you are renting more than a few times per month and it will get trickier trying to coordinate pickup times. Leasing, on the other hand, is a great long-term solution and may end up costing you less per month.
