Happy Mother’s Day! Today’s episode is all about balancing work & motherhood.
Cam is joined by Sara Beth Quattlbaum of SaraBeth Events, Lauren Schmidt of Freesia, and Amy Karp of Amy Karp Photography. All of these amazing women are business owners and rockstar mamas!
Motherhood is a beautiful thing. Many women say it’s the best (& hardest) thing they’ll ever do. Balancing work and motherhood can be difficult at times, but finding that balance is so important. You’ve built your business from the ground up. It’s important to you, and so are your kids, so how do you balance it all?
We’re here to tell you that balancing work and motherhood CAN be done. In today’s podcast, the moms gave some great tips on balancing work and motherhood.
The first tip to balancing work and motherhood is having all of your calendars in one place! We use Google calendar. Cam adds her personal, calendar, and her kids’ calendars all in together that way she can see where she needs to be when. It’s important to share these calendars with your family so that you can schedule important dates!
It is okay to lean into your family or friends for help. If they are supportive and love you, they will be happy to help when needed! Sometimes, your support system could be your employees, your parents, or your best friend. Whoever it may be, lean into them for moral support.
One of the biggest hacks you will learn when balancing work and motherhood is to delegate tasks! You cannot do everything, and that is okay. Make sure you’re communicating with your employees & delegating all the tasks that are not realistic for you to complete. Your employees will appreciate the honesty and openness! It’s always good to let them know where you’re at.
This might be the number one thing when balancing work and motherhood. Boundaries are extremely important for your family and your mental health. A healthy work-life balance means that you work hard when you’re at work, and you live well when you’re at home. Set hours for yourself and clock out at the end of the day to spend time with your family. We totally get that this is easier said than done, but remember: your business will not fall apart if you don’t respond to that email at 9 PM. It can wait, mama!
We all know how important self-care is! Whether that be a coffee & meditation in the morning or a simple hour workout. Really, this can be anything from your joy list! Set time aside each day to do something for yourself.
Last but not least, give your kids the gift of boredom! You do not have to fill every weekend with activities! Their creativity and imagination will come into play when they’re bored at home.
You’ve got this, mama! We believe in you.
Joyfully,
