It is SO important to make sure that your team feels valued & that their voices are heard at work. In this episode, we dive into ways that you can foster your team from their first week and on!
Making sure that your new team members feel taken care of is the first step of fostering your team. With new hires, it’s important that you clearly communicate their new role so that they feel like they have a good grasp on the company and their position.
Our first week of training purely consists of brand education + position education! We spend the first couple of days telling them all about our company, then dive into exactly what they will be doing.
Communication is KEY in the workplace, but especially with new hires! Something that is extremely helpful when communicating with a new hire is to create an SOP for their new position. A Standard Operating Procedure clearly communicates all of their responsibilities & tasks. Purchase our SOP bundle for a full step-by-step on how to run your rental company through SOP’s.
Our weekly team meetings have tremendously added to our team’s happiness! Each week, we have a meeting to chat about upcoming events, but also to ground ourselves with gratitude. We give out each of our core values to a team member that we feel embodied that core value for the week. We also state something we are grateful for and celebrate a win within our positions. Sometimes, fostering your team can simply be a weekly meeting where you give them space to talk.
It is important as a business owner to remember that your business would not be where it is without your team! As long as you remind your team that everything is a team effort, they will feel supported and valued at your company.
Our last tip for fostering your team is one of our favorite core values, work hard | live well. We made sure to implement boundaries within our company so that our team felt like they could live well when they’re not at work. We love using Slack for our communication, that way when they are away from work they won’t be notified. We also have implemented an “unlimited time-off” perk so that our employees can take off when needed! We believe that when you trust in your team to do their work, they deserve to be able to manage their own time. Fostering your team is so important for your business so that you can have quality employees for years to come!
