Hi there friends! We are so excited to be here with you today sharing all about our most recent move onto Sharp Street! If you have been listening to the podcast, you know that we have talked about how to maneuver a major move like this and what a huge undertaking it can be for you and your team. That is why we want to talk to you today in a quick episode about how we did it and what we looked for when searching for our next warehouse space.
So when we began searching, we looked at close to 30 to 40 different spaces for the next place we wanted to call home. It is so important to see as much as you possibly can so you can experience the multiple layouts, envision your business in that space to ensure it could work how it needs to, and also consider how your team will adapt to the new space. It may work for your liking, but consider how they will integrate into the new space. After you have toured it, consider taking them on the tour with you to see what they think and how they will work in that space.
After touring so many spaces, we ultimately went with the warehouse on Sharp Street for a few reasons. We absolutely had to have a dock door at minimum, but the ramp we also have is a plus. Front as well as back or side entry into the warehouse was also a must for ease for our team for loading and unloading purposes. The warehouse we chose also had a huge space for a showroom and that is going to be crucial for how we are able to meet with clients and show our clients how our inventory can be styled. While these were some of the main components of our decision making process, having a floral room was also important to support the floral design side of the business.
Sharp Street spoke to us not only for these reasons but because we also needed quick access to the highway and ample parking. With freelancers and employees, parking was a big one. While the showroom is amazing and will serve as a great stepping stone for the business, the wide open warehouse, where a majority of the inventory is stored, has so much potential for growth. Whether we decide to keep roughly the same amount of inventory or expand our collections, the opportunity to expand and continue being creative is going to be so fundamental in our growth.
When it comes to moving your HQ, it is not only important to make sure that you are organized inside of your new space, but also on the legality and “office” side, if you will. Have you updated your contracts with your new address? What about your google business page? How about your social media pages? These are things to consider!
While this episode was short, it is a sweet one and full of key points if you or someone you know is in the midst of a move! We hope that you find some of these tips helpful and as always, thank you for being here. Until next week, friends.
Joyfully,
