Are you a solopreneur trying to juggle all of your tasks AND market your business? Or maybe you’re a creator struggling to balance your work? Well, friend, we are here to help! Today’s show is all about marketing during your busy season. Listen to the episode below to hear some tactical tips so that marketing during your busy season doesn’t feel quite so daunting.
It’s finally safe to say that events are coming back… and we couldn’t be happier! After the year we’ve all had, it’s about time for business to be picking up a bit! But as things get busier, we all know how easy it is to put marketing on the back burner.
But there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Marketing during your busy season doesn’t have to be so daunting! Here are some tactical tips to help you out.
If you’ve been listening to our podcast for a while, you know that this is something we talk about frequently. Planning ahead can be helpful in so many areas of your business! When it comes to marketing, we especially like to plan ahead by having monthly marketing meetings.
In our monthly meetings, we chat about what went well the month before and what we want to tackle for the month ahead. We take into account holidays, seasons, and what’s going on in business. We also track the analytics for all of our marketing efforts! This is extremely helpful when deciding what kind of content we need to create.
We recommend planning out your marketing efforts one month in advance. This allows you to bulk a lot of work while still staying up to date with what’s going on in the world. Instagram is an easy place to plan in advance because you can use a platform like Planoly to help you pre-plan all of our posts. When you’re planning, make sure to be in a space where you can be focused and knock it out in one sitting.
Additionally, it is super important to plan ahead and prepare for your photoshoots! We like to give ourselves at least 2 months to set intentions and really plan our shoot days. We decide the design, location, photographer, outfits, and everything else in advance so we aren’t cramming the week-of. This helps with stress & allows the photoshoot to go seamlessly! Pro Tip: Create a Shot List for your photographer with checkboxes. Then on the day-of, have someone on your team check off the shots as you get them!
While we are on the note of photoshoots, let’s chat about one of my favorite tips – bulk content shooting! Bulk content shooting is when you get LOTS of content at one photoshoot. For example, we recently had a photoshoot where we took a wide range of photos that we could use in all pillars of our business. After you’ve planned ahead, you’ll know exactly what kind of content you need to capture. We also recommend taking tons of video, behind the scenes, and time-lapses so that you can create Instagram reels and videos later.
Bulk shooting relieves so much stress throughout the month, especially when you’re busy with other tasks! It allows you to pull from that album, knowing that the content will be on brand and easy to fit in anywhere.
I recently learned at a conference that content creation should only be 20% of your marketing efforts. 80% should be implementation! It is much more important to be putting the content to use than it is to be creating it. Our number one tip for implementation that will save you time is this:
Take one photo, then create a short and long caption that goes with it. The short caption can be used for Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and all the other social platforms. The long caption should be used on your website as a blog post! All of this copy can be used in so many different places and will save you the hassle of trying to think of words for a caption or an email when you aren’t in the right mindset. Don’t forget! All of your captions should have a call to action or point directly to your website. After all, that’s where the sales come in!
We hope you can take these tips during your busy season and put them into action as events come back! We believe in you!
Joyfully,
