Being a business owner who wears all of the hats in and out of the office or studio can not only be, but also feel exhausting. You may not quite be in the place where hiring a team member or staff is in the budget, so you have to figure out how to manage the tasks at hand while also thriving in your solopreneur role. In today’s blog, we are sharing our five steps that we know and stand by that can help any solo business owner be successful.
Take a look at your daily tasks and create a routine from that. That could be a routine for how you start your day from the moment you wake up, how you set up your work tasks to make sure you accomplish them, and then how you set yourself up for success when you are home for the night. You can take a peek into Cam’s morning and evening routine here!
Establish your availability with your clients ahead of time. What does this mean exactly? Have clarity in your availability and set your working hours and be upfront about them. You don’t want to be out at dinner with your family or friends one evening and your phone is constantly going off with questions or your client(s) wanting to chat after hours (if you don’t work after hours). Create a healthy boundary, for you and your clients to have, so both parties can be on the same page.
Are you in the position of needing office help but you also don’t have the capacity to hire someone in house or full time? Consider hiring a virtual assistant! There are so many pros to hiring a virtual assistant. It could be someone part time and perhaps they work on just the tasks that are created in Asana or they mainly work on completing standard tasks such as updating your website, social media platforms, responding to all emails, etc. When you feel like you are at your capacity of what you can handle, it is time to look into outsourcing the role so you don’t get overwhelmed in your role as the business owner or leader.
Utilize business software that will work well for your business. Whether you are a product or service based business, consider looking at software that will handle the internal side of your company in a way that will set you up for success. Some of our favorite and most loved software programs we know and love at GoodShuffle Pro, Asana, and GSuite! We talk about our preferred software on The Render Podcast in Ep. 128 — Rental Software Every Rental Company Wants & Needs. You can try GoodShuffle Pro FREE for 30 days with our code, too!
Join a community! As a rental company, we have learned so much by networking and being part of so many awesome communities in our area as well as in the surrounding cities and states — all by networking! The never ending support is amazing and we love having vendor friends (who become actual friends) to lean on in any season of entrepreneurship we may be walking through. We would love for you to join our community Rental Pro Community and to spread our support even further and expand our networking.
We hope that this has been a helpful guide for you during the time of working as a solopreneur. It can feel isolating during this time, but we all navigate this season at one point in the entrepreneurial journey. We are cheering you on as you work on creating the business of your dreams, my friend!
Joyfully,
